SATURDAY 14 DECEMBER FINAL COMPETITIVE GAMES OF 2024 – UPDATE FROM HUGHENDEN

This was a rare day in the Hills domestic competitive calendar when three senior mens teams took to the field, all at home. The 1st and 2nd XVs played at Hughenden. while the GU-Hills squad, thanks to Jordanhill School, used their facility. Our women’s domestic league programs were concluded on the 7th December.

The mens 1st XV defeated Hamilton Bulls 53-12, having pulled away from their opposition only after 50 minutes ; detailed match report to follow.

The 2nd XV enjoyed a mighty tussle with their Glasgow rivals, Allan Glen’s , but managed to snatch victory by 21-15 from the jaws of defeat thanks to a last minute try from second rower, Robbie Thomson, goaled by stand-off George Gornall. Hills also recorded a penalty try and score from debut boy Adam Winter, again goaled by George Gornall.

At Southbrae Drive, the GU-Hills squad took the game to Strathendrick 2nd XV from the kick-off and ran out comfortable winners by 50-24.

A great way to finish calendar year 2024. Now a welcome break BUT back into action on Saturday January 11 2025.

Thanks to all the coaching staff and volunteers.
